"I’m looking to working with my fellow directors in developing the EDATA data pool for providing all the data wholesalers need," says Andrew

Andrew Pegrum, Senior Technical Manager at EDA Affiliate Manufacturer Deta Electrical Company Ltd, has joined the EDA Data Services Board, the panel responsible for shaping the strategic direction and development of the EDATA data pool.

In line with EDATA’s ‘by the industry for the industry’ ethos, its Board comprises 8 volunteer representatives elected from amongst the 24 EDA Wholesaler and Manufacturer businesses that have committed to sponsor the data pool for the next 3 years. EDATA, launched by the Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA) in 2020, is expanding rapidly offering EDA Wholesalers free access to download product data in bulk to drive websites, e-shops, ordering and invoicing, and ERP systems, and create individual product data sheets on the fly.

Andrew’s election to the Board follows the departure of Richard Paine, former Product & Marketing Director at Vent-Axia, who relinquished his place as a result of moving to a business outside the EDA’s membership. The full EDA Data Services Board comprises:

  1. Edgar Aponte, CEO at Rexel – Chair
  2. Richard Baxter, Systems & Procedures Director, Edmundson Electrical Ltd
  3. Mark Ashworth, Director, ABM Electrical Wholesale Ltd
  4. Ian Hunter, Head of Sales and Marketing, Electrium Sales Ltd (A Siemens Company)
  5. Richard Moyes, Marketing, Intelligence & Development Manager, Prysmian Cables & Systems Ltd
  6. Andrew Pegrum, Senior Technical Manager, Deta Electrical Company Ltd
  7. Margaret Fitzsimons, CEO, EDA
  8. Richard Appleton, Head of Digitalisation, EDA

Speaking of his Board appointment, Andrew said

“Having high quality product information so that customers will know that the product they are buying will do the job that’s required, has always been important.  This need is expanding: logistical data is often required and with increasing legislation information on disposal, waste packaging and so on is often requested.

“It is clearly a huge benefit making all this data available in a format that is easy for customers to use, whichever manufacture is providing it.  I’m looking to working with my fellow directors in developing the EDATA data pool for providing all the data wholesalers need.”

Fellow Board member Richard Appleton, Head of Digitalisation at the EDA, welcomed this latest appointment, saying

“Andrew’s contribution to the EDA Data Services Board will be most welcome: he is extremely knowledgeable about the benefits and challenges of digitalisation for this sector and will bring fresh ideas to the table. We look forward to working with him.”
