The Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA) is a membership organisation, representing the interests of the UK’s electrical wholesale sector. Launched in 1914 as the Electrical Wholesalers’ Federation (EWF), the Association refocused and rebranded in 1998 as the EDA.
Wholesalers join as Members. An Affiliate Member Programme is available to Manufacturers, Solution Providers and Service Providers.
As well as providing a voice for the sector amongst policy makers and trade bodies, including the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers (EUEW) of which the EDA has been a member since 1960.
The EDA offers 4 pillars of support for businesses:
- Business Community: events, publications and services that provide visibility, access and unparalleled opportunities for networking and business development;
- Industry Insight: curating and communicating information from a variety of sources that offers valuable insight, identifying threats and opportunities and enabling better decision making;
- Education and Training: encouraging recruitment into the sector and providing opportunities for individuals to upskill and develop professionally from the moment they join until they retire;
- Digitalisation: supporting the sector to meet current and future business challenges through the adoption of digital sales channels and digitalised business processes.
Membership includes the leading national wholesalers Edmundson Electrical Ltd, Rexel UK, CEF, and Stearn Electric Co Ltd, as well as hundreds of independent electrical wholesales businesses of all sizes, most of whom are members of the UK’s largest buying groups ANEW, AWEBB, Fegime UK and The IBA Buying Group. The EDA represents an estimated 75% of the UK electrical wholesale industry.
