EDA Business Forum – A huge success!

May 20, 2015

Following our first ever Business Forum in Scotland, Renfrew to be exact, we are delighted to share all the topical presentations presented on the day.

Just over 80 delegates attended our event, held in the afternoon at The Glynhill Hotel. Wholesalers and manufacturers networked with each other over lunch, and took advantage of the opportunity to be under one roof for the afternoon, and to hear some topical, industry presentations.

The first presentation was from Andy Guest, Membership Services Manager of the LIA. As an experienced electrical / electronic engineer working with the LIA since 2003, Andy presented At last a way to sort the wheat from the chaff in LED Lighting – An Introduction to a new compliance Scheme for LED Lighting by the Lighting Industry Association (LIA) – LIA Lab Verified’. The next presentation, given by the EDA covered the numerous benefits and options avaialble to EDA Members in the EDA Education & Training portfolio. From Product Knoweldge modules to NVQs, and finding apprentices for it’s members, this is an essential topic for those wanting to invest in their staff, now and in the future. Delegates were then addressed by Steve Jones, Sales Director of National Contracts for Honeywell. Steve has nearly 35 years in the heating industry, twenty of those years with Honeywell. Steve presented ‘The industry & the connected home – are we ready for what consumers want?’. Click here to see Steve’s presentation.

And last but by no means least, delegates listened to Dave Forrester, Head of Technical Services at SELECT, regarding the 3rd Amendment to BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations – ‘What are the implications and opportunities for Electrical Wholesalers?’ Click here to view Dave’s presentation.
