Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI)

April 23, 2021

Following the Hackitt report – Building A Safer Future – published in response to the Grenfell disaster, the Construction Product Association’s Marketing Integrity Group (MIG) have published a new Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI).   The code sets a level playing field for all construction product manufacturers to ensure that the information they provide passes five acid tests, i.e. it is: Clear; Accurate; Up-to-date; Accessible; Unambiguous.

The code has recently undergone a consultation period, results of which are currently being reviewed.   Once the code is launched, all construction product manufacturers will be urged to embrace the principles of this Code.  Users of construction product information will be encouraged to only work with those Manufacturers that are registered as Code compliant.

The EDA is broadly supportive of this initiative and has submitted its feedback as part of the consultation.  While primarily aimed at manufacturers, the potential impact on electrical wholesalers should not be underestimated.
