CPR & Cables: Guides for Wholesalers/Distributors and Specifiers
The British Cables Association (BCA) launched its 2017 guide to the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) & Cables.
There are 2 versions of the guide available - just click on the links for your version
The Guide includes valuable guidance and recommendations that should be adopted when using cables affected by the new CPR regulation, which comes into effect from 1 July 2017.
What do if you spot a non-compliant cable product
Distributors/wholesalers who consider, or have reason to believe, that a construction product is not in conformity with the Declaration of Performance (DoP) - you can find an example of a DoP on page 10 of this guide - or not in compliance with other applicable requirements in the Regulation, then they should not make the product available on the market until it conforms or until the DoP is corrected.
Where the product presents a risk, the distributor/wholesaler should inform the manufacturer/importer and the National Authority. For the UK, the National Authority with responsibiliyt for CPR is the Government's Department for Communities & Local Government - Building Regulations & Standards Division.
